Sarcoidosis is a granulomatous disease. This means nodules of tissue may develop throughout the body. Seen many times in African American women, symptoms may include cough, fever and night sweats.
On exam, sarcoid plaques and/or erythema nodosum may be present.
Lab studies include an elevated calcium level. A chest X-ray may show bilateral hilar andenopathy.
Treatment of sarcoidosis include steroids such as prednisone.
