HELLP (Hemolysis Elevated Liver Enzymes Low Platelets) is a complication during pregnancy after 28 weeks.
As the title explains, the labs demonstrate elevated liver enzymes labs and the platelet count is low. An elevated bilirubin is expected.
On exam, patients may demonstrate tenderness in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen, hypertension, and jaundice.
Treatment may consist of hydrazine, labetolol and/or magnesium sulfate.
